The Food Self Sufficiency department has been growing and developing ways for Kanaka Bar to develop and become more sustainable. The team is made up of dedicated staff and community members who work in the gardens, and harvesting areas.

Fresh produce from the garden will be available for pick up  at the community building!
Lots of zucchini, green onions, fresh herbs as well as the first of our garlic and onion will be available - perfect for fall comfort foods 🍲🍂

Josta berries are ready to harvet, they are located just behind the band office. Please be careful as the bushes are prickly, these berries are similar to huckelberries. One of the FSS team members has shared one of their favorite recipes using the Josta berry.

Food Sharing Policy Meeting - Jan 2023

Bee Keeping Workshop - January 2023


Bee Keeping
January 24th from 10:00 am - 3:00 pm
at the Community building.
 
It will be mostly hands-on, with participants learning how to assemble a hive, the basic beekeeping
equipment and how to care for bees throughout the year, and is open for anyone to attend! Anyone interested should RSVP so we have an idea of how many to supply a lunch for, either call Emma Bryce's cell (778) 933 2125 or email at birchgrovefarm@gmail.com

Hello Everyone and Happy New Year!

 

Emma will be at the Community building this Thursday, January 5th, from 12-3pm for anyone that would like to participate in the Food Self Sufficiency Surveys 

 

The surveys take around 15-20 minutes to complete and you will be entered into a draw to win either a $25, $50, or $100 Gift Card to the KNS store. Or you can fill out the two surveys online here: https://forms.gle/nEibPmVMoSYaxk2U6
